6th Sept 2025: More Health Workers arrested at latest De-Proscription protest in solidarity with Gaza

At least 14 more health professionals were arrested today at the latest massive protest in Parliament Square against the unprecedented proscription of Palestine Action, the genocide in Gaza and the UK’s continued supply of arms to Israel. The protest involved even more protestors than the previous protest on 9th August, with an estimated 1500 people holding placards and many more there as supporters and witnesses. Placard holders sat peacefully holding signs stating: “I oppose Genocide. I support Palestine Action”.

Health workers sat in solidarity with Gazan health workers, 1400 of whom have been killed since the current crisis began. They sat behind a banner which read “Medical Duty > Terror law” and cited the Geneva Conventions1 and UN Security Council Resolution 22862.
After 4 hours the police moved in, selecting an individual peaceful placard holder and, in groups of 12 or more, surrounding and arresting them. All current and retired health professionals were arrested in turn, including Dr Fiona Godlee, previously Editor of the British Medical Journal.
