On Friday 8th March, International Women’s day 2024, HXR members gathered at the Mary Seacole Memorial together with other groups (including Extinction Rebellion, Parents 4 Palestine, Parents for Future UK, Mothers CAN, Global Women’s Strike, and Women of Colour) in solidarity with the mothers and women of Gaza as the Israel-Hamas war continues.

Tens of thousands have been killed and injured in the Gaza Strip.

Miscarriage rates in Gaza have increased by 300%.
Women are giving birth and having to undergo caesarian sections without anaesthesia.
Women and children account for 70% of those killed.

A human chain of parents, children and allies held hands across Westminster Bridge as a beautiful giant pregnant Mother Sunbird puppet made the journey across the bridge to Parliament Square, where participants gave her their offerings of roses. We sang and chanted with collective strength, empathy, and solidarity for the women of Palestine.

We call for an immediate ceasefire to save lives and an end to violence for all.
