9th March 2024: Mothers Rebellion Circle of Solidarity with Palestine

On Saturday 9th March, as part of Mothers* Rebellion 4th global wave of action, Health for XR joined the London circle that was held in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Across the world people are suffering from the impacts of climate change, conflict and violence. Women and children are especially vulnerable and are experiencing disproportionate violence in the devastating armed conflicts in Gaza, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burma and Sudan.

On the weekend that marked International Women’s Day and UK Mothers Day it cannot be ignored that for the past 150 days on average of 2 mothers are killed every hour in Gaza. Women and children account for 70% of those killed. Along with the destruction of healthcare facilities and infrastructure it undermines women’s basic human rights to have a safe pregnancy and birth including Caesarian sections with adequate pain relief. Palestine mothers are bringing life into the world whilst fighting death from bombing, sickness, or starvation.

During the action we sat in silence, we sang, we made #noiseforhunger with pots and pans, listened to an excerpt from a Palestinian woman and powerful and emotive speeches from Emma of @mothers_manifesto and Crissie who works with @womenagainstrapehq @womenotcolour_gws @globalwomenstrike and @allafricanwomensgroup

After the emotional and powerful circle, the group joined the members joined the Solidarity March for Palestine along with approximately 400,000 people.

For the people of Palestine and everyone worldwide, we refuse to give up, we refuse to look away.
