30th January 2023: South West Water Action (South-West HXR)

Early morning on 30th January 2023, members of South West HXR along with other groups, including both Plymouth and Exeter Extinction Rebellion groups and Surfers against Sewage, protested at South West Water Offices about their failure to protect rivers and seas and their terrible record of sewage overflows and under investment and consequent ill-health.

With backing from an XR samba band, protesters held placards and leafleted and talked to employees as they arrived for work. Many employees expressed sympathy with our concerns. The event finished with the unveiling of a plaque highlighting South West Water’s poor perfomance rating for polluting our waterways. A positive outcome of this meeting was SWW’s offer of a meeting to discuss these issues..
